Back to back wins for De Kleijn in Langkawi
Tudor Pro Cycling’s lead-out train for sprinter Arvid de Kleijn is on fire at the Tour de Langkawi. The Dutchman was able to take his second consecutive victory in Malaysia, thanks once again to excellent teamwork.
The TUD squad, riding Teammachine R 01s, executed the perfect strategy in Stage 5 of the Tour de Langkawi, placing Simon Pellaud in the breakaway and allowing Arvid to ride at his own pace on the climbs during the first half of the race.
When the sprinters rejoined and the peloton regrouped, the team worked to maintain a high pace before launching the sprint for the sprinter, who had claimed his first victory in the race the day before. This resulted in a second consecutive win for De Kleijn and the team.
De Kleijn reflected on the day aboard the Teammachine: “It was a hard stage, especially in the beginning. On the second climb, I dropped with all the other sprinters, which was fine for me. We started riding and made it back to the peloton, and as a team, we were in a good position since we had Simon in the breakaway, so we didn’t have to chase.”
“Once they were caught, the guys did an amazing job of putting me in the perfect position, and I just had to sprint, just like yesterday. As I said yesterday, it’s very hard and different sprinting here, and I am super happy to win again and be part of this team effort.”
He also looked ahead: “We have three more opportunities, and we’ll try again.”
